Castle Dagestein is an ideal “playground” for artists and other creative minds. The newly renovated “Tithe Box” provides excellent exhibition areas. The partly original sandstone masonry of the ground floor constitutes an attractive background for works of art. Likewise, the whitewashed walls of the keep’s first floor show off paintings and other artistic creations to their best advantage. Larger works of art, e.g. sculptures, are displayed in the newly remodeled courtyard against a stunning backdrop. Installations can be set up to extend from the yard, over the restored cellar vaults, all up to the various floors of the castle keep. Exhibitions of works by remarkable visual artist, resident as well as visiting, are an integral part of the municipal cultural program. The season lasts from the end of March until September. Castle Dagestein has become a centre of the regional social and cultural life.
